Feynman

My first laptop and the first computer I purchased for myself (Feb96). I used it both at work and at home and shuttled it inbetween. I could take one of these systems apart in record time to updgrade the RAM or replace the hard drive. I seemed to be doing that a lot with these systems at work. Perhaps I was just bumping up the memory every time there was an extra RAM chip leftover.

The 520 was priced at $2,270 U.S. with an passive-matrix 4-bit grayscale screen, and the 520c, with a dual-scan 256-color screen (the 520c was the first PowerBook to include one), cost $2,900 U.S.
