Survivor

Christine and I have been big fans of Survivor from the very first season. I always thought I'd do well on the show since I could handle the physical conditions, know about camping and roughing it, and am a bit of a competitor in my own right—even participating in (nerd alert!) gaming conventions during my college years.

Christine had a great idea about a Survivor audition tape where I'm holding Samantha in the middle of the night saying When you've got a colicy baby—you've got to be a Survivor. I took that and expanded it and with the help of our video camera, iMovie and a few friends, threw together a Survivor Audition tape.

The video is in two parts. The first is the original idea, but after editing it only came to a minute and a half. I had three minutes I could work with. I thought 90 seconds would be good enough to grab their attention and get into the second cut. They might also appreciate not having to watch a full 3 minutes. So I rolled the credits and if they liked it there it was.

In case they kept watching I filled out the rest of the three minutes with talk to let them know what a great person I am and whatnot. Ok, too much whatnot and not enough talk.

(The audio is a bit uneven so I'd advise turning the sound up.)

If I had gotten on the show, I would have been one of the contestants in Survivor: Thailand. As you may have guessed, I didn't make the cut. Looking back, I should have spent more time talking about me and showing that I would be good on camera rather than showing off my amateur movie making skills.
